“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” takes place in modern London – a grim city of narrow-minded individuals with no sense of imagination. We’re introduced to Dr Parnassus, the 1,000-year-old immortal leader of ‘Imaginarium’, a travelling show where members of the audience get an astonishing opportunity to enter a world of their own imagination by stepping through a large mirror. However, Parnassus has a dark secret. Many years ago he made a bet with the devil, Mr. Nick, first giving him his immortality and than many centuries later trading it for everlasting youth in order to pursue the great love of his life. The condition was that the devil would come to reclaim the soul of their child when she turns 16. Valentina, Parnassus’s daughter is approaching that age and he is desperate to protect her. After Mr. Nick comes to get her, he makes another wager with Dr Parnassus; first of them who seduces five souls will be the winner of Valentina. Parnassus must fight to keep his daughter safe with any means available.

The year is 2019 and vampires rule the Earth. They have become the dominant society on the planet. With the undead outnumbering the living, starving immortals must find a blood substitute or mutate into crouching, bat-like creatures. Ruthless businessman and vampire Charles Bromley is the head of a company that specializes in farming humans for their blood and distributing it to the thirsty masses. However, there is less and less of it. Bromley hires a vampire hematologist Edward to come up with a blood supplement. By chance Edward gets into a car accident with a band of humans in which he meets Audrey who takes him to the group leader, an ex-vampire Elvis, who professes to have found a cure for vampirism. Edward starts to work together with them to save humankind.

Creation is a powerful and true tale of Charles Darwin and his epochal 1859 work “On the Origin of Species”. However, the film also deals with Darwin’s personal agony after the loss of his eldest daughter who died of scarlet fever at the age of 10. When Annie gets seriously ill, he takes her to “hydro-therapy”, a somewhat unusual method which he also uses to cure his chronic illness. His wife Emma is against this kind of treatment and this is the reason Darwin blames himself for Annie’s death afterwards. During his struggle to accept his beloved daughter’s death, Darwin is torn between the love for his religious wife and his new idea of the creation of the world, which has nothing to do with God. In some ways his wife Emma becomes his fiercest opponent after Darwin’s obvious loss of faith in God. Creation is a great story of a marriage torn apart by the most provocative idea in the history of mankind – evolution.

Cold Souls is a surreal comedy in which souls can be extracted and traded as commodities. Starring Paul Giamatti as a neurotic actor named Paul Giamatti. He is rehearsing the title role in Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, agonizing over his interpretation, paralyzed by anxiety and feeling the burden of the role. Giamatti’s agent shows him an article in The New Yorker about a new service “Soul storage”, where your soul can be extracted and held in storage. Dr. Flintstein gives his patients the opportunity to live less complicated lives. Giamatti goes to Flintstein’s office for the procedure only to discover that his soul is the shape and size of a chickpea. However, he enlists their services, intending to reinstate his soul once he survives the performance. As a result he becomes happier but also a bad actor. But when he wants to reverse the process, his soul can’t be found. It seems that a mysterious, soul-trafficking mule borrows Giamatti’s stored soul for an ambitious, but talentless, soap-opera actress. So Giamatti has a Russian donated soul installed in place of his own.

“Upperdog” tells the story of a half brother and sister – Yanne and Axel who get adopted as young children by two different Norwegian families. He goes to live on Oslo’s wealthy West side, and she is sent to an average family on the East side. Growing up in different families they also become entirely different – Yanne is a mature, confident and well-adjusted young woman, while Axel turns out to be a selfish, pompous, spoiled-rotten brat. Faith brings them back together when Yanne’s polish friend Maria goes to work as a maid for Axel’s parents. In their house Maria accidentally discovers a photograph of Axel as a young boy – the same photograph she saw on the wall of Yanne’s apartment. Maria’s wish is to reunite them again. However, not everything goes as expected.

Bob Wilton, a journalist covering the Iraq War in 2003, is in search of his next big story when he encounters Lyn Cassady, a shadowy figure who claims to be part of an experimental U.S. military unit. Lyn reveals that his unit consists of psychic spies trained to develop a range of parapsychological skills, who can read the enemy’s thoughts, pass through solid walls, and even kill a goat simply by staring at it. In the 1980s Lyn was mentored by one Bill Django – the founder of the unit, who has gone missing and Cassady’s mission is to find him. Bob decides to go with him but as the time passes by he starts to doubt if Cassaday really has paranormal abilities or if he’s just plain crazy.

Larry also has other issues on his mind; an anonymous hostile letter-writer is trying to sabotage Larry’s chances for tenure at the university, a Jew-hating neighbor and a lonely, pot-smoking housewife who sunbathes in the nude stirring his libido. Struggling, Larry seeks counsel and consults from various local rabbis.

“Bright Star” tells the story of the brief love affair between the gifted 23 year-old English poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne. When Fanny’s mother and Keats’s friend find out about the relationship it’s too late. After Keats falls ill two young people have to face separation.

As leap day approaches, uptight Anna becomes more and more frustrated as times seems to be flying by and they are barely making it from Southwest Ireland to Dublin. Also along the way she starts to feel attracted to Declan. So it remains to be seen will Anna propose or are we in for a twist.

The man recalls the events before the catastrophe and his dead wife. Despite all difficulties he tries to maintain his own sense of morality and humanity and instill those values to his young son.
